Over 13 lakh electric vehicles in use in India: Centre tells Lok Sabha
India has a total of 13.34 electric vehicles while the number of non-electric vehicles stands at 27.81 Crore, “State Minister for the heavy industry Krishan Pal Gurjar told the DPR in a written reply to the question.
He said that the center took a number of steps to promote the use of electric vehicles in India. The Minister, in his answer, said that the government introduced a faster adoption and the construction of a hybrid and electric vehicle scheme in India (India’s fame) in 2015 with the aim of reducing dependence on fossil fuels and overcoming vehicle emission problems.
At present, the Phase-II scheme of FAME India is being implemented for a period of 5 years in force starting April 1, 2019 with a total budget support of 10,000 CRORE RS, he added.
The government approved the incentive scheme related to production (PLI) for the creation of advanced chemical cells (ACC) in this country to reduce battery prices in the country.
According to the report submitted by the Minister, Delhi has the highest number of electric vehicles with 1,56,393 vehicles, followed by Maharashtra with 1.16,646 electric vehicles.
